POSITION
TITLE:
Community Outreach Coordinator,
American Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces
Position that you report to:
Program Coordinator, American Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces
Positions reporting to you: Volunteers
MAJOR DUTIES:
-
Raise
awareness of Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces program with
the
community-based military members and their families throughout
the local Red Cross chapter’s jurisdiction
-
Coordinate and/or provide briefings/presentations
-
Represent
Red
Cross Services to the Armed Forces program
at community fairs and exhibits
-
Maintain/utilize a directory of community-based military units
-
Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers for this
program
-
Network
with other military community resources
-
Supports
and assists the volunteer program, including volunteers who
deliver Red Cross services
ADDITIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include, but
are not limited to:
-
Provide
briefings on the services available by the Red Cross, especially
those that will
help link family members during an emergency
-
Be able to
respond to inquiries about local Red Cross chapter services or
direct to the appropriate department
-
Participate in meetings and trainings and assist with the
development and implementation of outreach programs designed to
reach our designated populations
in support of the Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces program
-
Create
attractive and informative display boards in keeping with Red
Cross chapter guidelines
-
Assist in
managing supplies/inventory for outreach service
-
Assist
with tracking expenses related to the Red Cross Service to the
Armed Forces grant
-
Complete
monthly reports
POSITION
REQUIREMENTS:
Availability
for occasional work during evening and weekend hours as needed.
Education:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and
experience that would indicate the ability to successfully
accomplish duties and responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Capable of doing group presentations

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet
deadlines and correctly handle confidential information

ability to work with a high degree of accuracy, attention to

and follow-through

The ability to work effectively under pressure

The ability to work effectively both independently and as a
member of a team

Experience working with volunteers desirable

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

A professional telephone manner, with good grammar

A positive and professional attitude and demeanor

Project management experience

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and learn other
databases as necessary

Must be able to operate basic office equipment including laptop
and LCD projector
-
Ability to lift, carry and move supplies/equipment up to 45
pounds on a routine basis
-
Willingness to travel to all of our chapter offices and to other
locations as needed
-
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
-
A clean driving record (must produce a driver’s abstract from
Dept. of Motor Vehicles)
-
Ability to pass a background check
-
Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent
resident alien of the United States
COMPENSATION:
$12.00 per hour, non-exempt, part-time
19 hours / week
