Students Raise $786.21 for Red Cross

Students from McAlder Elementary School in Sumner hosted a spontaneous coin drive to support local Red Cross disaster relief efforts.

On Friday, February 6, 2009, the American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter was presented the funds from their fundraising campaign.

According to Principal Susie Black, students raised $786.21. The students put all their heart and enthusiasm into the Red Cross coin drive.

On the first day of the coin drive, Savannah Savannah Galloway-Boswell, a 2nd grade student, brought in $50.00 in rolled pennies. She told the principal, “The flood victims needed it more than I do.”
